The difference is what it plans from
Most tools that promise outfit ideas start from a catalogue: they suggest items you would have to buy. A wardrobe-based planner starts from an inventory you control — the pieces hanging in your closet — and that single difference changes everything downstream. The outfit is wearable today, it matches the clothes you already like, and it does not create a shopping list you never asked for.
How it works in practice
- Build the inventory once. Photograph the pieces you wear most. The app reads the cut, material, pattern, and color, so you are not typing details.
- Describe the moment. A workday, a dinner, a trip, a season — plus the weather if the day is uncertain.
- Judge the result, not the idea. The outfit is rendered on you, so you can see whether the proportions, layering, and colors actually work.
- Keep or adjust. Save the looks that work, and regenerate the ones that are close but wrong.
Before you start, it helps to know what you are working with: the wardrobe calculator counts the combinations your clothes can already make, and the printable planner turns the plan into something you can follow without the app.
Three checks that tell you whether to trust it
- Does it stay inside your wardrobe? If the result introduces garments you do not own, the tool is generating ideas rather than planning your outfits.
- Are the garments reproduced faithfully? Colors, sleeve length, neckline, and fabric should match the reference photos. Restyled garments make the preview useless.
- Does the result look like you? Your face, features, and proportions should stay recognisable. An attractive image of somebody else tells you nothing about your wardrobe.
What a planner should never do
It should not measure your body and call it styling, it should not quietly turn into a shopping tool, and it should not invent garments to make an outfit look better. Those three shortcuts are what make outfit recommendations feel untrustworthy — and they are the reason Kaloft renders a look you can verify against the clothes you already own.
